How did the VFD in the enclosure end up working out?
I never had any issues actually. Only "weird" issue that I had was with my parallel breakout board and sometimes my left Y motor wouldn't get the direction bit when homing, so the left motor would home in the wrong direction, essentially tearing the gantry apart. When I switched to the Mesa 7i96 this issue went away.

How width is yours machine?
That's one nice egg.
These are great videos. I'm waiting on my Ali kit and these are keeping me pumped! Where did you get your punches, if you don't mind me asking? I'm eyeing the ones from HF.
Thanks! The transfer punches I was using were kindly borrowed from a buddy of mine, but they're actually from harbor freight. The punch I used for the templates was getting pretty dull towards the end of the build, so idk if you can get slightly better ones that won't dull for a couple bucks more. Just something to mention.
Absolutely amazing video! Thanks so much for this. I hope you are doing well, and would love to see more videos like this!!!
Ok… lol now what???
What the longest length of cable you can use to the stepper motors, before you need screening ?
Hey, is it mandatory to have soft limits enabled? Or how would machine know where the probe located every time coming from random positions? Can you explain that one please?
Thank you so much for sharing this short video. The finishing of your steel tubes looks awesome. What did you use for blacking of the steel tubes?
Thanks! It's actually grey metallic spray paint.
What 3d printer would you buy if you were a beginner today? ...Lots moving parts in this market atm, so I'm trying to assimilate info from those who seem real and are not in sell mode. Most of us are trying to cut the right corners but at my age it becomes detrimental to cut out the sludge
I would honestly look at the Bambu A1. Even though I've built a voron, to have a printer that "just works" is pretty valuable to me. It's going to cost another $100 or so than a typical Ender, but will save you some potential troubleshooting and headache.
Will this script work in Mach3? I'm assuming it will since it's G-code but thought I would ask. I just bought a similar tool setter and cannot find any kind of script for these but am going to set up like yours where it's sitting in the corner somewhere out of the way. I'll be 3d printing a mold for a cover then casting it with liquid rubber to protect the sensor during operation since I will be using coolant a lot.
Yes, it should mostly work. You might have to make a few machine specific changes that I'm not aware of, but it's worth trying.
@@ProjectsbyBrian Thanks. I know I would have to change coordinates and such but I just wanted to make sure the basic script could be re-typed out verbatim into mach3.
What was the wall thickness you used for the steel tubing?
How do you like thst basic board ? Any issues ?
This is a really awesome approach to getting the tool setter to work! Although i have to ask. Why are you using g92 z value instead of g10 l20 p1 z value? Wouldn't you have a double offset from not cleaning the previous g92 with a g92.1?
Mk. is an abbreviation for Mark. So we say "Mark 1", "Mark 2" which means version 1, version 2 etc.
Hello, I added the same tool setter to my Router CNC, at some point during the installation, did it not happen to you that the tool lowered more than it should in the calibration? 'cause that happened to me, and I don't know if it is due to the software parameters
I did the Predator 212 engine swamped on an old Toro 521. Toro 521 has a 21-inch clearing path. It's a shame they don't make two stage snow blowers that small anymore. I find it's good for my front walkway.
Why do you have 2 Y axes?
One good thing outa this is, most people are not gonna go through this. Thanks for trying, really appreciate it
Why such difficult? Take arduino duo/leonardo and ad DM556N drivers. That's all. No need for com ports and other stuff.
What did you do to fix this? I came across your video today because my main breaker started doing this.
Nice build, I was wondering if you can send me a link for your Z axis. Im in the middle of a new build and looking for a nice Z axis that I can purchase to save a little time. Thanks
If I were a better man I could focus on something other than how horrible and cliche all this music is.
DO NOT remove the iron tip from the joint when approaching with the sucker. The solder WILL solidify at that moment. The silicon tube does not melt easily, just press it against the joint AND the tip together. Then it will do a much better job. Otherwise, the results would not be much different from a cheap sucker. The magic here, as you say, is the silicon tip which creates a SEAL on the joint. In your demonstration though, there was absolutely no seal. You removed some of the solder, but the joints remained soldered.
I have the same VFD I added a 40c thermal switch to the fan curcit. I used a little thermal glue connect the switch to the heatsink located just under the fan. It works great, the fan only comes on when the spindle is under load, otherwise its nice and quite lol.
That's a great idea. Yeah, the VFD fan is definitely the loudest fan in the control box haha.
How much for this one goes?
This is an Eaton Panel with a CC2150 Main Breaker. Eaton has a lifetime warranty. Call them up and they will send out a replacement breaker free of charge under warranty. If you have the same breaker as in this video it will be replaced with a CCV2150 which is the replacement for a CC2150 as they have been discontinued. I just did this and received mine after about a month and a half. Hope this helps someone.
Did you replace yourself or had a professional come in?
@@huzairmumtaz I have not replaced it yet. It's the middle of winter where I'm at and the power will need to be disconnected and inspected before it can be energized again. I'm going to wait until I don't need my furnace.
Plastic motor mounting ? NO WAY. All you cutting force has to go through the ball screw , ballnut and motor mountings. Plastic moves. Buy , or make solid metal parts.
Did you have to modify your transmission to flip it the other way? I saw another video where a guy had to flip a bracket for the gear selector and weld it back in place
Hi.. great video, would this type of setup also be able to use with online based software like Easel or similar ? Because not all have access to CAD/CAM software or even know how to properly use those type of software.. i am just right now building my 4th CNC and i am thinking about using onlinebased software like Easel, even though i used to use LinuxCNC and still have that computer with everything allready installed. Thanks..
Estou montando uma aqui no Brasil.
What size cable loom did you use?
shite gun, shite video
How much room did you loose or have to dedicate to the tool setter of your “useable work area”? For instance If you originally had a 30”x30” work area I’m assuming you have like a 28”x30” area now?
how add probe screen to my linuxcnc, not have, were can load this, linuxcnc 2.8.4 version i have.
i found that the ealier version of model d always has some quality issues. for mine, it creaks when i sqeeze it, the buttons side glide/travel, the left button squicks when i press it too hard. its all litte problems that doesnt effect gameplay, but made the whole thing fell sheap.
Square tube metal, mild steel or stainless steel?
What is the size of your stepper motor means whats the holding torque of it.
minimum torque need be have 470 OZ or 3 Nm. about smalles what can use woodworking mill have nema 23 3Nm motor.
Can this machine process steel?
Some guys have done it, although I wouldn't build this machine with the sole purpose of cutting steel. You might have good results but it's on the upper end of what the machine is capable of, IMO.
Just in case you didn’t know, you could actually use a Stepper Motor Spring style coupler, braze it to two aluminum plates and now you have a spring loaded touch plate and you wont break bits :)
Can the same setup be used for a plasma cnc and running with mach3 instead of linuxcnc?
not working, i not have macros file folder, not have display this probe screen. linuxcnc 2.8.4 not have this screen, only DRO and manual.
have this down, ngc inch or metric ?
how i can add this addon probe screen to my linuxcnc ?
where are you man?
Hey! Been super busy with work, family and other life stuff lately. I've been thinking about doing an update video soon to share what I've been up to.
no coolant fluid when cutting aluminium?!, your must go through cutting tools quite fast no?
